2016: A Great Year for Veganism — Already!

Vegan. A term coined by Donald Watson in 1944 has now become nearly a household word. And 2016 is already proving to be a banner year for veganism. Check out these promising and exciting news stories….and learn more about how THE BLOCK off biltmore celebrates veganism everyday!

Watson, an English farmer and teacher, eschewed eating animal products or causing harm to animals for any reason.

“If the vegan ideal of non-exploitation were generally adopted it would be the greatest peaceful revolution ever known, abolishing vast industries and establishing new ones in the better interests of (wo)men and animals alike.” ~ Donald Watson

Why VeganAt THE BLOCK off biltmore we are committed to social justice, which we believe also encompasses animal protection, environmental preservation, and compassion for the planet and sentient beings—all of which observe the universal principle to “do no harm.”

For these reasons, every item we serve is 100% vegan! All libations are vegan and we regularly feature local vegan food artists, showcasing their passion for delicious, healthy, sustainable, & compassionate foods.

In case our reclaimed vinyl chairs fooled you…. we use no products tested on animals or containing animal ingredients (no materials made from leather, wool. bone, silk, or fur). We also choose not to support companies such as the Pernod Ricard Group (owner of liquors such as Kaluah, Absolut Vodka, Jameson) as the company supports bullfighting.

TBob is pleased to offer a space for vegan-related community events, as well as nonvegan-related events, and has hosted the following since November:
Benefit for Full Circle Farm Animal Sanctuary
Christmas plant-based potluck
Meeting for organizers of PlantPure Nation
Weekly Asheville Vegan Society Meet-Ups
DXe (direct action org) presentation (& soon monthly potlucks)
We invite you to celebrate 2016’s forward march in THE BLOCK off biltmore’s warm & welcoming environment with reasonably-priced, nutritious vegan bites, local/regional brews, great music, & a celebration of local art.
***Official Grand Opening on Sunday, January 31, with “Lush Life ReDux” and Jesse Junior on vocals. More Info Here. Please also make sure to subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date on TBob news & events.
