1920’s blues afterparty with The Gravyhouse Storytellers

February 7 @ 9:30 pm - 11:30 pm EST

February is the month of love – – it’s the perfect season to warm your honey’s biscuits with a little ‘gravy-on-the-side’ ♥

The Gravyhouse Storytellers have prepared a piping-hot slathering of 1920’s blues shoutin’ tunes for your dancing and drinking pleasure.

The show debuts at THE BLOCK off biltmore on 2/7 from 9:30pm – 11:30pm – immediately after Russ Wilson‘s Famous Orchestra plays the The Foundry Hotel Asheville (6-9pm).

The Storytellers perform historically authentic arrangements of Pre-WWII-era blues shoutin’, hokum, and swing tunes in celebration of the great female blues artists of the swing era. Our ensemble seeks to echo historical messages of women’s empowerment, autonomy, and independence – – from an age where such topics were often ‘coded’ and relegated to the smoky fringes of after-hours jazz clubs.

Our sound is a ‘snapshot’ of that moment in time when blues and swing first collided; with a repertoire that favors ‘mid-tempo blues’ for dancing, drinking, and listening alike ~
