Asheville’s First-Ever Emerald City Ball!
March 17, 2016
HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!! Come out to THE BLOCK off biltmore for a VERY special event celebrating St. Patrick’s Day – Asheville’s First-Ever Emerald City Ball.
2016 is the first year of Asheville’s Emerald City Ball, a new event sponsored by Emerald City Tiny Homes, a local business launching on March 17, 2016.
The festivities include a free screening of The Wizard of Oz, a green-themed costume contest, and a brewery crawl. The ball will raise funds for the North Carolina Housing Coalition (nchousing.org), as the need for affordable, eco-friendly housing was one of the factors that prompted Kelly Palmatier to start Emerald City Tiny Homes (EmeraldCityTinyHomes.com).
The festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with a free showing of The Wizard of Oz at THE BLOCK off biltmore. This portion of the evening is an all-ages event. Cookies and nonalcoholic green punch will be provided free of charge for kids (an alcoholic version is available for adults for $5.00).
At 7:00 p.m., the Emerald City Ball Revelers are encouraged, but not required, to wear green, dress up in festive St. Patrick’s day attire, or wear any costume related to The Wizard of Oz. Green beer and a “Lollipop Guild” specialty cocktail will be available for purchase as well as other assorted beverages and vegan food by SuperFoodies.
Donations for the North Carolina Housing Coalition are appreciated.
At 8:00 p.m., the costumes will be judged with the winner receiving $100 in cash.
At 8:30 p.m., the brewery crawl starts and includes 4 neighboring breweries
