NC Green Party Spring Gathering!

May 19 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on May 20, 2018 at 9:00am

You’re invited — the North Carolina Green Party (NCGP) will hold our statewide Spring Gathering at The Block Off Biltmore, 39 S. Market St., in Asheville on Saturday May 19 through Sunday May 20. We’ll also meet informally the evening of Friday May 18 for drinks and socializing. This is our first statewide meeting after our historic success of achieving ballot access earlier this year! We’re the first progressive/left party to get on the ballot in North Carolina since the 1980s!

Please join us in Asheville for a beautiful weekend in May to celebrate our victory and talk about the future of building the North Carolina Green Party.

RSVP at our website: https://ncgreenparty.nationbuilder.com/2018_spring_gathering

NCGP members and nonmember supporters are both encouraged to attend, though only dues-paid members may vote during Saturday’s party business. Visit our Membership Page to learn more and to become a member. This event is free and open to the public.

WHAT IS THE SPRING GATHERING?
The Spring Gathering is one of our two annual gatherings of Greens and supporters across North Carolina. There is both a social aspect and a business aspect to the gathering, and the business meeting is where NCGP members elect new officers; vote on platform, bylaws, and other proposals; and decide which issues to focus on at the state level. The gathering is also an opportunity to meet other Greens and supporters and share what we’ve been working on in our local chapters.

Here is our tentative schedule of events:

• Friday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m.
Drinks and Socializing at The Block Off Biltmore, 39 S. Market St., Asheville. Please join us for drinks and some informal conversation the evening before our business meeting on Saturday! This is a great time to build relationships with other Greens and supporters. If you like, stick around for The Block’s live music beginning at 9:00 p.m.

• Saturday, May 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
NCGP Spring Gathering Business Meeting at The Block Off Biltmore, 39 S. Market St., Asheville. Below is our agenda at a glance. We’ll send out a more detailed agenda a few days prior to the meeting.

* 5:30 p.m. – March Against Monsanto Rally. Right after our business meeting, join us for the March Against Monsanto nearby The Block in downtown Asheville. More info to come.

• Sunday, May 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Strategy Session and Visioning at The Block Off Biltmore, 39 S. Market St., Asheville. Join us for coffee and brunch and a structured conversation about building the NCGP across the state now that the NCGP is a ballot-qualified party. (Coffee and brunch courtesy of NCGP.)

A detailed agenda will be emailed to members, posted on our website, and posted on our Facebook event page prior to the meeting.

LODGING: There are many options in Asheville. Hotel rooms and Air Bnb/VRBO are plenty. There are a handful of hostels downtown. Sweet Peas<http://www.sweetpeashostel.com/> is very close to The Block and has a good reputation.

BECOME A MEMBER
Remember to renew your membership or become a member atncgreenparty.org/membership. Only NCGP members can vote at the Spring Gathering on decisions of the NCGP. North Carolina residents who are registered to vote as “Green” are eligible to become members of the NCGP after they have affirmed Green Party principles (see our 10 Key Values, platform, and statement of purpose), set their own dues rate using a budget-friendly sliding scale, and initiated payment of those dues. You choose your own dues level on the honor system, based on what you can pay. Note: Residents who are ineligible to vote due to state disenfranchisement (including but not limited to reasons such as age, criminal record, or noncitizen/undocumented status) may also become members. Email the NCGP secretary at secretary@ncgreenparty.org if you feel you are ineligible to vote due to state disenfranchisement.
