Free Screening of “Vegucated” and Meet, Greet & Eat with Stacy Shepanek of Vegan Outreach
August 28 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST
Come out for the kick-off of Vegan Awareness Week 2017. As many of you know, the Mayor has proclaimed Aug 28-Sept 3rd (9/3 is the day ofAsheville VegFest) as Vegan Awareness Week in Asheville!
To get the ball rolling, our friend Stacy Shepanek from Vegan Outreach will join us and will be tabling at THE BLOCK. She will let us know of the many ways for folks to get involved with activism via Vegan Outreach, on one’s own, or some combination thereof.
Stacy is the Carolina Outreach Coordinator and Communications Designer at Vegan Outreach.
Stacy leaflets schools and does virtual reality tabling in South and North Carolina. She also designs event flyers and social media memes, among other communications projects.
Stacy is an artist, entrepreneur, and advocate. She began her career doing planning and design work in the engineering field and later started her own ceramic art business. Her path to animal advocacy began in 2012 when she became vegan. With a natural ability to connect and motivate others, and to build community, Stacy became an organizer of Charleston Veggies and Vegans. She also cofounded the Charleston Plant vegan dining guide and is now a co-organizer of Columbia Veg.
Vianda of Vianda Catering will be bringing her amazing food — menu to be set but here’s what she did last time she cooked for THE BLOCK:
Cornbread, BBQ jackfruit “pork,” slaw, vegan mac n cheese, collards, and banana pudding, $12
THE BLOCK off biltmore has a great menu of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. They’ve got your favorite cocktails and mocktails, plus a great variety of vegan beers, wine, and spirits…many of which are eco-friendly (i.e. distilled in solar and wind-powered distilleries). They also have buchi, locally crafted Kombucha tea, and Unity Vibration Kombucha beer on tap. Ask nightly about drink specials! Also – did you know that every drink you purchase at THE BLOCK off biltmore helps to support the YMI Cultural Center? Ask them how when you arrive. And remember there is FREE parking a block away after 5 pm during the week (all day Sat & Sun) at the municipal lot located at Spruce and Marjorie beside the police station.
